Metropolitan Areas:
In the Southeast region of Coahuila is located
the M.A. of Saltillo, which includes the municipalities
of Saltillo, Ramos Arizpe and Arteaga; together
they reach a population of 725,000 inhabitants.
Population Growth:
In Coahuila, the population growth and its distribution
have been strongly determined by the availability
of natural resources and geographic factors.
The rate of growth of the cities was not uniform.
For instance, Torreón was the city with
a high accelerated growth during the first half
of the century XX, whereas cities as Saltillo
showed growth from the decade of the 80’s
until the present time, happening to be the municipality
with a greater number of inhabitants, moving
Torreón away of the first position.
